Handsome Man

This is the first of what will be a number of edits from Cosmic Boogie. The track chosen for Edit #1 is Handsome Man by Sparkle. It’s a tune I have liked for a long time, since hearing the Larry Levan mix of it that came out on a Salsoul Repress in 2004 (the original was credited as Sparkle Tuhran and Friends, and mixed by Bobby “DJ” Guttadaro). This edit is taken from the Larry Levan remix.

It’s something I have always wanted to play out, but I always thought the vocals were not only a bit too…strong…they also didn’t give the track much room to breathe. The edit takes the vocals out apart from the chorus, which I think needed to be left in, and also cleans up the arrangement a little (for how I use the track), extending it out at the end. It’s a simple edit – a DJ tool, I suppose…

    This doesn’t seem to available anymore. I love this track and have the Levan mix you mention. I would like to hear your interpretation if possible. Thanks

    All fixed now – dont know what happened there to be honest. The file is now playable and downloadable again.
