Liverpool Disco Mixes – Adam Heliwell

I’ve met some decent people this year – its been a good year. Playing more places has meant that i know have more friends in Poland, Brighton, Bristol and (deep breath)…Swindon! However, one of the stand out nights of the year was being asked to play at the re-opening of the legendary 3 Beat (now 3B) records in Liverpool. It turned out to be well worth the trip into town, although I still havent been back to get my sunglasses or headphones because I am fucking useless.

One of the stand out things about the night, besides Thomas Tuft dad jamming to my djing with a saxaphone, was meeting the next Liverpool Disco Mix selector, Adam Helliwell. I’d known of him for a while, but never spoke properly…and it turns out that just like the rest of them hes a good, decent, knowledgeable chap.

I asked for a guest mix from him, and unlike the rest of them, he has actually come up with the goods (sort it out boys). Now whoever else is out there reading this knows that not only is he sound, he can also pull out a great mix. This is exactly what I wanted when I started asking people for Disco mixes – a different take each time and so far so good, with this mix expertly covering the deeper side of the nu-disco spectrum (without treading too far into edit territory).

It really has been a good year.
