Stu Robinson
Stu (Cosmic Boogie) has been playing with sound for around ten years now, everything from early house to drum and bass, and then back to disco, soul and funk. This is born from a passion for music that was pretty insatiable, and a thirst for knowledge of the origins of many of the samples, loops and rhythms that make electronic music what it is today. He has played alongside the likes of Theo Parrish, Ashley Beedle, Trus'me, Chris Duckenfield, Greg Wilson and Optimo, helping run the successful archive night in Liverpool. Musical Influences range from Talking Heads to Roni Size, Roy Ayers to Emperor Machine, The Undisputed Truth to Leftfield, and DJ influences from such legends as Ron Hardy, Chicken Lips, James Murphy, Larry Levan, Marcus Intalex and Gilles Peterson to name but a few. Stu can be found mixing and writing for his blog Cosmic Boogie, on web radio, guesting in fancy and not so fancy nightclubs, and maybe, just maybe...on a few of edits in your record collection. collective@cosmicboogie.co.uk

Galaxy Radio Tonight…
Its been a while since I did an update, mostly because I am a useless bastard. So this week will see three – thats right, three new mixes from people I have met on my travels of late, all the different shades of disco and house represented, of course. Tonight though its my turn, with a mix on Galaxy Radio going out sometime between the hours of 2am and 6am.

Warsaw Rocks…
I was asked to go out to play in Poland by the Strictly Business crew (J-son and Funkoff – known to friends as Rafal and Jaromir) last weekend (28th November), and I just thought I would take a minute to reflect on a great trip, meeting cool, knowledgeable, talented and hospitable people at every turn.

Cool in the Pool
I was lucky enough to do a mix for Cool in the Pool and an interview a few weeks ago, and, as Its been up for a little while I thought I would link to it from here. The mix was a more uptempo affair than usual, on purpouse. I try to play as many different things as i can (as many different things as I like), however, don’t expect a genre mish-mash of everything going – just the usual groove based affair.

The Tropical Space Machine

The mix for the Slabs…
Ive been so busy, I nearly forgot to post up that the return leg of the Mix for the Taberacle was sent to them on the final day of January with only moments to spare (or something nearly that dramatic), and that you can find it for download over at the excellent Slabs of the Taberacle website. I wont put it up here because the mix was crafted for them, but here is a tracklisting for those interested…

The archive mix
A mix, not necessarily reflecting what will be played at the archive night, but certainly with the vibe that I hope will be around – an influx of style and sound constricted only by the DJ, not by anypreconceived ideas of what should or shouldn’t be played. This is a mix of disco “based” stuff I suppose, but really, its just a collection of tracks that I like. Hope you do too.

The Lonely Hearts Club Mix.
The Lonely Hearts Club is a monthly night in Manchester run by people who know how to promote and throw a party. Situated at the very cool Purple Pussycat, the music is a throw down of disco, funk, pop, cheese, soul, boogie and electro. Pretty much anything as long as its good. Cosmic Boogie were invited over to play on Friday 27th of June

Boogie at the Disco.
We are great friends of Cosmic Disco over here. There are some things we don’t like about Manchester *cough, Ronaldo*, but Cosmic Disco is certainly not one of them. Not only is the blog an inspiration, its a virtual catacomb filled with musical treasures. Without these three aficionado’s this blog wouldn’t exist, and I bet countless others wouldn’t either. So its a real pleasure to have a Cosmic Boogie mix hosted by them.

Cosmic Boogie Mix #12
A very good friend of mine came to DJ with me at The Magnet last week. Id pretty much say that he was responsible for putting me in touch with the side of me that yearned for more musically. This mix is a slow burning cosmic funk mix that is just about that music.
